Weekend Roundup! #2 : Lapsap-ed!

It has been three crazy days of non-stop entertaining and, being entertained by our Malaysian guests.  Lapsap and Kenny Sia flew down over the weekend for the special Malaysian National Day celebrations at CQ.

To recap, Lapsap came in for a surprise set at Seven on Friday. Rumours were going about that they would be playing at Seven and for those who showed up, it was indeed a good warm-up and pre-CQ party.

On Saturday, we accompanied Lapsap for their gig at Eurotrash. Being an Aussie night, it was interesting to see how the Caucasian crowd responded to the Malaysian boys especially as most of them would have no clue who Lapsap are.

Initially slotted for an hour, the organisers were extremely happy that they decided to extend the tag-team duo’s set as they have accomplished what many international guest DJs (which of course includes big names) have failed to do – keep the crowd happy. You could just see some of the Aussies just watching in awe as they spun. Further more, this obviously, happy dude came up to the booth and showed them the Daft Punk sign when they dropped Around the World.

Lapsap’s main gig was of course, CQ. They were over 1,500 revellers who came out on a cold Sunday night to check out the boys as well as Malaysian celebrities, Kenny Sia and Kim Ong.

It was little wonder why upstairs was just going crazy when they jumped on. The boys were having so much fun to the extend, Blink decided to climb onto the speakers to party with the dance floor. Even security was worried as fans were trying to get on stage.

After leading the first countdown at midnight downstairs, Kenny and Kim led the second Merdeka countdown at 2am (in sync with Malaysian time) upstairs. They were mobbed by their fans with Kenny being a female magnet on the night!

It was indeed, crazy vibes and an icing on the cake of a Lapsap weekend. Henceforth, these boys have proudly flown the Malaysian flag and marking Down Under with their presence and sound. Accoding to Blink, the night at CQ was mental.

We certainly enjoyed our three nights with Lapsap and we hope you did as well! If you missed out, you can always catch the boys at Zouk Malaysia every week.

Many thanks to Lapsap, Kenny Sia and Kim Ong for being part of such a memorable night!
